system worm A person who succeeds in rising through an institutional hierarchy by following an amoral self-serving compass, oriented toward pleasing superiors, obtaining otherwise worthless credentials, and massaging mechanisms recognized solely by obtuse bureaucratic systems -- as opposed to advancing "in the real world" through success based upon one's own meritocratic terms, as defined by personal moral principle, artistic imagination, and entrepreneurial vision.
